See How Our Program Exceeds Expectations

My journey with the Heart Smart Miyagi program was life changing. I have gained a wealth of knowledge about healthy eating which i believe has been the biggest key to being motivated enough to keep sticking to my health goals. All other things I had tried in the past didn’t work. I have been able to lower my cholesterol and keep it down. I feel healthier within, no more inflammation, sore joints and bad skin and my IBS after years of pain is finally under control. I don’t feel restricted in my eating I have no cravings for bad food anymore and don’t feel guilty if I do indulge in a treat every now and then. Having your own personal dietician to help with recipes and substitute alternative foods for your old bad habits has been amazing. The check in with your own dietician is great as it also keeps you accountable. My dietician was full of knowledge and very supportive through my journey. It’s been a few months since I completed my program and I am still going strong. Thank you Miyagi and My dietician for changing my life.

My lovely dietician helped me throughout my journey and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to interact with.
Her knowledge of all things diet related, her understanding, compassionate way toward me and her beautiful friendly yet professional attitude are second to none.
Without her regular calls and encouragement, I honestly don’t think I would have stuck with the program. I knew what I had to do, I just needed to make myself accountable to someone so I would commit 100% until this became my lifestyle. Which I am proud to say it has 🙂
The thing I like most about this is that it’s not reliant on shakes, or fads of any kind, it’s all just common sense. Which makes it easy to maintain after your program is finished.

I’m loving Heart Smart, it is the perfect program for me. The weekly phone sessions with my dietitian, and the information sheets and videos I received proved perfect. I love the way that each week there is something for me to read or watch that is not massively time consuming but a page or two of really useful information that has helped me to understand what cholesterol is and what foods are great for my body, and portion size. l’m feeling great and can’t recommend this program enough.

After years of trying numerous diet plans, I too was skeptical. Even the onboarding process didn’t fill me with confidence. Since actually starting however, my dietitian and I have worked hard to succeed. Goal setting for accountability; weekly videos or information sheets explaining the hows and whys. To date, many kilos lost and confidence that I will continue this plan for the remainder of my life. It works! It’s easy to follow. I am feeling the health benefits, friends tell me I look great. Highly recommend Heart Smart programme and especially my dietitian!

I joined Heart Smart Australia 5 weeks ago, and I was ready for change. I am 53, post-menopausal, so discouraged with low self-esteem, constant weight gain and lack of motivation. I’ve found that weekly guidance with my beautiful dietitian, regular checking in from the Miyagi Team, and the online app and connection with others on the program has been a major turning point for me. In 4 weeks, I’ve lost cms off my waist, chest and hips, my blood pressure has dropped, and I know I have lowered my high cholesterol level. I’m so encouraged and know that it is through this great program that I have kept up my motivation and have hope for a healthy future!

My experience was varied. I initially signed up expecting to lose weight quickly. I soon found out that was not the case with more emphasis on correcting some bad habits and improving some not so bad ones. Because my diet was already fairly much like the ideas given with not a lot of “junk” foods it was more a case of tweaking. My weekly consults with my dietitian were always constructive. After 26 weeks it has become a way of life with my pantry and fridge only containing the foods that enable me to stay within the guidelines. I know that if I stray I don’t need to give myself a hard time.
I also have the mindset that this has been a huge financial investment so it would be wasted if I didn’t commit to the programme. I did feel initially that the costs should have been put forward early in the discussion. The fact that there is no “cooling off” period was difficult. Health Funds do not cover anywhere near the total cost.
I will continue to follow on Facebook & podcasts to make sure I get my value.
I now believe I can do this as I had lost the belief that I would ever lose weight

A great program with great coaching staff. Regular check-ins, information sharing and increased knowledge builds your toolkit to keep succeeding beyond the My experience has been a slow revisiting of my habits, and I have been given space, counsel and encouragement to check them. At times I felt like a child, restoring foundational things like water intake, “fruit twice a day” etc But so what? I see how busy my days are, with minimal time for self care/planning/enjoyment. I am not where I want to be, but I have been grateful that my directions have been changed, my systems feel better, and I can shake off all the “opinions/fads” about food advice & stay the course with optimism! My dietitian was consistently helpful, answering questions and seeing more positive steps in my week than I did! Encouragement is powerful. Thankyou.

Miyagi has been one of the best investments I have made. I felt I was heading to an early grave due to an unhealthy lifestyle. Then I saw the Miyagi ad on Facebook. Of course I was apprehensive at first, but after my first phone call with my personal Dietitian, I began feeling like someone cared about me and my goals. My dietitian and Miyagi are helping me make good choices and lead a heart smart life that will continue for the rest of my life. After 2.5 months I am eating foods I have never tried before, planning meals, more active, 6kg lighter, lowering my BP, not craving junk food and my chronic knee pain has decreased significantly. I am feeling positive and looking forward to the remainder of my 6 month program and the wins it will bring. Miyagi’s support pages (Facebook), resources and weekly live streams with Cardiologist, Dr Ross Walker all increase my determination to succeed in living a healthy life without restrictive dieting. Thank you, my dietitian and Miyagi.

The support that I receive from my dietician plays a motivating role in my quest to achieve my program goals. I am seeking to lose some weight; improve my heart health; exercise regularly; eat well and eat appropriate quantities of food – and learn to eat when I feel hungry – to eat only until I feel full and to introduce more Mediterranean foods into my food regime. My dietitician is guiding me positively. Taking time to prepare food and to eat mindfully – that is a focus too! What a great program to be a part of !

I am very happy that I have chosen the heart focus Miyagi programme. I really appreciate the weekly support from my qualified dietician who is fantastic. I have gained so much knowledge, the resource documents are fabulous and the app is very easy to use. I am making changes to improve my long term health and I am so pleased I have done this for myself.

I’m feeling grateful to be enrolled in the Heart Smart program by Miyagi. Since I’ve started, I’ve learned a lot about myself and my relationship with food. I’ve been brought up in Middle Eastern culture meaning the more food on the table the better. Thanks to my dietitian, I’m learning to be myself and be mindful of eating healthy and moving better. I’m shifting my mindset from a “Diet Mindset” to a healthy lifestyle of choosing my portions of all food available, instead of being fixed on shakes and bars. It’s a total transformation of my relationship with food and life. Thanks again and looking forward to sharing more reflections on my journey.

I have been on this journey for about 3 months and I urge people to stick with it.
I had my doubts in the beginning as I wasn’t losing any weight, and I began to question the financial cost.
In theory it was a great idea- but it took at least a month or more to get my head in the game. I expected a quick fix and was not focused on why I joined in the first place (which was to make the life changes necessary to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer and other nasties that seem to run in my family).
My dietician is more of a support person who offers great advice on diet, exercise and all things health. She encourages me to set goals and not focus on scales, instead focusing on little weekly changes and achievements that are all adding up to something great.
The little changes so far have resulted in me feeling happier, healthier, having improved sleep, wanting to exercise regularly, planning nutritious meals and not feeling bad for still enjoying life’s pleasures like wine and chocolate!
I look forward to what the next few months have instore for me and am grateful that I have my dietitian supporting me.

I signed up for the Heart Focus programme offered by Miyagi. It has been transformative. Having a qualified dietician check in every week to act as a health coach, basing her advice on the latest scientific evidence and clinical expertise is life-changing. I suffered a major life-threatening cardiac event prior to joining; this programme has proved to be an excellent continuation of the advice and guidance I received through my cardiac rehabilitation provider. My dietician’s advice has helped the whole family. I cannot recommend this programme highly enough – the resources, app and Facebook support group are all wonderful.

I’m loving Heart Smart, it is the perfect program for me. I started off feeling completely overwhelmed by the prospect of trying to become a healthier me, but when I signed up to Heart Smart, the weekly phone sessions with my dietitian, and the information sheets and videos I received proved perfect, I love the way that each week there is something for me to read or watch that is not massively time consuming but a page or two of really useful information that has helped me to understand what cholesterol is and what foods are great for my body, and portion size. I have been trying all sorts of new foods and recipes and with the help of my dietitian I am changing the way I think about food and eating. The administrative support is excellent and recently when I was unwell it was not a bother to cancel my appointments; they were added on to the end of my program. I am able to claim through my health fund for the dietitian appointments which is a bonus. l am feeling great and can’t recommend this program enough.

Love love love my dietitian.
My dietitian has to put up with me, and yet she remains so patient, kind and so free in offering such sound knowledge on any information I require on eating healthy and ensuring that I continue to add more movement into my lifestyle.
If you need accountability in your life and that motivational drive, I would give this 100 stars.
Just remember, a journey begins with a single step, and you need to believe in yourself, you can do it.

I did not have any expectations.
As a carer for my partner I recognised I had neglected myself. I had stacked on weight, lost fitness, became reclusive & used alcohol regularly. I visited a Dr to get my bloods and learnt my BP was excessively high.
This program was my bid to rediscover & heal myself, and I was committed.
With medication I have righted my BP and have chosen the program to assist with my cholesterol & weight.
The program offered gentle encouragement rather than being prescriptive. I now exercise daily, have learnt healthy meal portions and have alcohol free days.
It has been about forming good habits in my life and it has really worked. I feel better physically & emotionally.
The person I used to know is now in sight… I am confident I can continue with my lifestyle habits to be me again. Ģreat news is my partner has joined me in with food and now some exercise.
Many thanks

This program worked well for me. As I am a procrastinator the calls from my coach kept me accountable. Luckily I don’t have any major health problems, so focusing on changing habits was my focus. I’m 67 and my mum is a fairly fit 97, so I want to ensure my next 30 or so years are healthy and happy ones. The resources, especially the video on “there are no good or bad foods” example of a pendulum was very powerful for me. That and “Eat the Rainbow” is something that stays with me. So I really appreciate having all the tools available to me while on this journey. Thanks for your guidance.

Today was my last call with my dietitian. I just want to say thank you to her and Miyagi for fine tuning my eating habits. It has set me on a journey of healthy eating with occasional treats. It’s ok to eat some carbs…it’s ok.to have treats but just occasionally. It has been a program of confirming fresh is best. I also started push up challenge last week and hope to keep that up even after June. Aim is to stay healthy and happy. I am 64 and kicking it!!
———–
I think the best things about the Miyagi program are the weekly sessions with the dietician, the meal planning resources, the Facebook support group and Dr Walker’s sessions. By far the best thing is the time with my dietitian each week. She has been kind, supportive, well informed and gently directional. I feel so much happier about my health and food choices. I am exercising more and am able to enjoy eating good food. Although the website is a bit clunky, once you learn how it works, it is very helpful.
———–
My dietician is patient, calm, practical, non judgemental and full of practical suggestions. I have never felt talked down to. She’s like a clever friend who knows how to help, not enable. I’m about halfway into the program and have lost weight and my Dr is thrilled with my cholesterol numbers that have come down significantly. Best of all I feel empowered and not on a diet. For the first time in my life I feel like I’m in control of the food and the decisions around it. I am not being dragged around by the teeth anymore. I make my own decisions and I don’t catastrophise about eating a cupcake or Easter egg anymore. I can keep it in perspective and not let it get out of hand. This has NEVER been my experience before!
———–
My Miyagi coach is an absolute legend. She kept me focused on the positive achievements when I was feeling hopeless, opened my eyes to some really useful changes I could easily make with my exercise, meals, and routines and kept me thinking about overall health. I’m so thankful to my dietitian and the program, and I highly recommend it.
———–
I was skeptical, why would this be any different to other programs. I know what I should be doing I simply wasn’t doing it…
The regular contact with my dietitian has been the key, it’s kept me accountable, it’s allowed me to talk openly and honestly without judgement and through this have come leaps and bounds. My mindset is clear and focused, I don’t let my hiccups interfere, I keep moving forward, keep my main goal at the forefront. It’s definitely a personal journey and am grateful I chose to embark on it.
———–
I am delighted with the program. Weekly calls with my dietician help keep me accountable and great eating tips that are making a huge difference. Ability to take photo and load every meal for food journal as well as recording changes in metrics is very useful. This is a slow burn program for people who want to make sustained change and nothing else works.
———–
Through working with my dietician, I am learning so much about my nutrition and what works to sustain my body in all the activities I need to do every day. I am actively renewing my mind from the way that society has programed me in regard to what I should look like and what is beautiful. I have discovered my reasons for dieting and binge eating and the emotions that drive those behaviours. I’ve still got a lot to deal work through in loving my body and respecting what it does for me every day, but at least I have started the process. My dietician has been a fantastic support for me and is such an encouragement. Thanks for your teaming with me.
———–
The weekly calls are really helping keep me on track and put me in the right direction to help me be more healthy in my day to day. The goal setting is great because it’s always done in a way that is sustainable. All of the resources are informative and help me plan my next step. The app keeps me on track because I use the food and water logging so I can see where I need to improve. I like to see everyone’s ideas and journeys on the Facebook group, I’ve yet to use any of those resources but I like that they’re easily accessible. I’d like to see time settings in the goal setting part of the app, but otherwise everything is working for me.

My dietitian has made my experience fantastic. She is always very cheerful and warm in her interactions. She is very knowledgeable and helpful with plenty of ideas and information. I have learnt vast amounts about nutrition, what are ideal foods to be eating to help with any problem I have. She is always forthcoming with information and suggestions regarding supplements that she knows would be helpful for me. She always follows through with all that she says she will do for me which is very comforting and refreshing because I know I don’t have to ask twice. I feel I have had a supportive friend walking with me during my journey

I’m about half-way through my HeartSmart program and I’m pleased with how I’m doing. I was in a good mindset to start, so I was invested mentally in what I wanted to get out of it. My way of eating has changed, I am developing good habits, and learning helpful information from my Coach, and the Resources provided. I am losing weight too, which is great. And I feel like the program is setting me up for ongoing success into the future. I enjoy the Facebook community too – sharing photos, recipes, and our stories… It helps to know others are in a similar journey.
———–
I particularly value the one on one time with my coach. I feel accountable to our process and love that each week I get to talk to the same person, who knows the journey I’ve been on. Another top aspect is the photo log of food, no weighing or counting! I don’t always get to it, but the process is growing on me, and I’m learning to separate emotions/moods from eating. I’m only 4 weeks in, but I’m still motivated, a great sign for the next few months!
———–
My coach has been great. She has opened my eyes to not what I was eating but how I should be eating by spreading my protein throughout the day. This advice has curbed my night time hunger and by doing regular 20 mins a day x 5 days a week mixed exercise I have lost 18cm off my torso with only being on the program for 8 weeks. It’s not about the scale number it’s about how fit you feel, how those clothes are fitting. I have tried many a programs over the years however have found this one so much more educational about not what you eat but how you should eat and would highly recommend to give it a go.
———–
The support and advice given by the program was exactly what i have needed to establish good routines, learn better food selection planning and find regular exercise options that fit in with my life style. My dietitian has been a fantastic support and has gently but firmly helped me to set weekly goals. Overall i feel healthier, fitter slimmer and more flexible and i would consider having the option to continue perhaps fortnightly for a few months if this was available. Thankyou

I have found the experience with Miyagi very positive, supportive and productive. I have been guided and transformed into who I once was, a passionate and positive person. I can see where I am heading and smashing my goals. My last goal is to run a half marathon in my home town this November. I have been given all the tools to read and use and can’t think of how I could do my new lifestyle without the guidance of Miyagi.
———–
I recently completed my Miyagi programme and have had some life changing experiences. The initial blood tests showed up a distinct lack of Vitamin D, Iron and B12 in my bloods which led my doctor to do further investigation, upon which it was discovered I had Crohn’s disease. I already had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 20 years previously which is what had lead me to this programme. My dietitian was amazing in supporting me through the whole process. I have now completely changed the way I view food, eat food and prepare food. I have dropped 13kg, am off of my Lantus insulin and one of my oral medications for my diabetes as well. I am feeling so much better and really appreciated Rhea’s gentle guidance and ability to help me make the necessary changes I needed to make. She also encouraged me to take back my own power and stand up for what I felt was right for me. I can’t thank her enough. The programme was well worth doing from my perspective.
———–
I would like to say how grateful I am for my beautiful coach, she us an amazing person who has enriched my life and has given me the tools and support to continue on my journey to a happier, healthier me. I would recommend this programme to anyone who is struggling with food. it has always been a demon in my life. but not now and will never ever be again.
———–
My dietitian was a wonderful coach. Always very praising and never made me feel terrible about eating a bad thing . Most other programs I have completed always hone in on “oh you shouldn’t have done that”. It’s ok to have a bad food choice here and there just make sure the next thing you choose is a good mindful choice. My dietitian always was helpful and contactable, great resources available so use them. The coach can only do so much. You are responsible for carrying out the advice. If you are going to do it, have the commitment and mindset.
———–
When I read all about the program, I knew I wanted to join. Right from the very first telephone appointment I felt like a part of the Miyagi family and that made me feel that I was on the right track. What I really like and the most important thing is the communication has been 100% which makes it a lot easier to understand the process and today I received a lovely little gift from the Miyagi team. I can’t wait to really get stuck into the program.
———–
I joined Miyagi in September 2022, At first I was a bit skeptical even during my onboarding session with my dietician, however once into the program the cards began to line up and I was more at ease, my dietician is great he listens to what I have to say and offers solutions or ideas to change, and always available via text etc. The recipes are great and easy to follow, the phone app works well as does the web page.
———–
A great program that will be of immense benefit to those who truly have the mindset to want to change their lifestyle eating habits. Make no mistake, you will be doing all the hard work. The staff are efficient, and knowledgeable and take an interest in you, adding helpful hints, support, and tips along the way.
———–
I’m so happy with my experience so far, learning so much that will help me in the future with my health and well-being.
The plan is so well put together, my dietician is so helpful, and our discussions have been very informative and motivating. There is so much information available, guidelines, information sheets, hints and tips, for life moving forward.
———–
This programme was a big financial outlay for me and I began feeling a little impatient with myself and wanted quick results. But as the weeks have gone on I have found myself encouraged by the weekly calls and the gentle and supportive nudging by my dietician. I have found her advice practical and useful and she has listened to what is important to me. She has made me feel accountable about the goals I have set without being judgemental when I have not reached them that week. My own mindset and the way I have looked at meal prepping and what situations trigger me to eat has changed in that I am not as focused on losing weight but rather on how to make healthier daily choices on the food I prepare and the exercise I choose. Although I have only managed to lose a few kilos so far I am feeling stronger and more energetic than I have in a while as I’ve taken control of my health journey. I’m mindful of what I put into my mouth and think about the consequences of my behaviours more than I ever have. I find the app modules useful and the strategies and suggestions given by my dietitian particularly helpful. So far so good
